POLLINATION INVESTIGATION
Now on display in Wolf Gap’s West Gallery
Nearly 90% of flowering plants rely on about 200,000 species of animal pollinators for feralization. Explore the essential role that pollinators play in the natural world in the Smithsonian poster exhibition Pollination Investigation. Through “pollinator profiles” visitors can learn about different pollinators—from butterflies and hummingbirds to bats and the wind—and their favorite flowers based on floral characteristics like flower shape, color, scent, and more.
During your visit, ask at the front desk for a copy of the Pollination Investigation Scavenger Hunt! Complete the scavenger hunt for your pick of something from our prize box (adult-friendly prizes too!).
Pollination Investigation was created by Smithsonian Gardens in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History and made available by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. It is funded in part by the Smithsonian Women's Committee. Learn more at gardens.si.edu.
FOR THE BIRDS
NOW ON DISPLAY IN WOLF GAP’S EAST GALLERY
For the Birds is an interactive display of photos taken by Mary Ganaway, reflecting the broad range of bird species she identified on a May 2023 visit to Wolf Gap. Each bird photo is paired with a QR code to allow the visitor to hear samples of the bird’s call as they view the photos.
